..32 hours in China?

So, as some of you may or may not know, at the beginning of the month I went out to China to play a couple of parties.  It was definitely a good experience, despite being such a short trip! I was in Hong Kong & Shanghai & I’m looking forward to heading back soon, and going to more cities and spending some real time out in Asia!

My experience pretty much went as follows: I left Toronto Thursday morning, landed in Hong Kong Friday evening, checked in to the hotel/showered, went out to dinner with DJ Doze & management at M1NT Hong Kong, headed to the club, DJ’d my set 1230-3, slept a few hours, headed to HK airport, flew to Shanghai on Saturday, checked in & showered, had another amazing dinner, rocked M1NT Shanghai w/ DJ Choyce Kutz, took a 3 hour nap, had some quick breakfast on Sunday morning, then left Shanghai, flew 15 hours back to Toronto, headed home to change/shower, then drove to Niagara Falls, and DJ’d another party there at Dragonfly on Sunday Night..!

It was an experience to say the least. No time for shopping.. In fact, no time for anything – not even authentic Chinese food :( It’s all good.. I’ll be back!

Full 3 day tour video coming soon.. In the mean time here are some pics of the journey. Peace!

I would never post anything I do not personally co-sign. My homeboy, Kevin Casey from NYC did up a crazy mixtape called ‘Live From New York’.
You can download it for free below.. Just click on the image below!

I will be in NYC on October 6th for a corporate event for Google. The party only goes till midnight, so you can bet I’m hitting the studio with Kev right after!

Manifesto w/ Rich Kidd & Friends, Reflection Eternal, 9th Wonder, Jeru The Damaja, Skratch Bastid & More..!

The title of this post pretty much sums it up.. Last Sunday Sept 20, marked history in Toronto once again as the 3rd annual Manifesto Festival took place.
I DJ’d the after party at Revival alongside DJ Hi-Tek (Reflection Eternal) & Skratch Bastid. Special guests 9th Wonder, Jeru The Damaja, Talib Kweli, Rich Kidd, Saukrates, etc. were all in the spot.. It was definitely ‘one of those nights’.  I have a ton of video from this night, which I will edit and post up soon.. In the mean time here are some pics & some of Rich Kidd & Friends’ performance, as well as Reflection Eternal performing at Nathan Phillips Square.

Ideall Clothing Fall/Winter 2009 Preview

Via 1867 – Like any of the previous releases from Ideall Clothing, the Fall/Winter 2009 collection due this October features fresh designs — each in relation to “a scenario, influence or social commentary” within the life of founder/designer, Bryan Espiritu. The new collection will include crewnecks featuring the Bossin’ and Gigantic designs from the Spring/Summer collection. Another crewneck will simply feature the LL logo — the first piece to bare the staple logo. The collection will also feature tees that will include a flip on the Polo RL logo, a V for Vendetta-inspired design, and a design paying homage to the lives lost during the heaviest year of gun violence in Toronto. 2 new toques will also be released, along with a redesign of last year’s Die Enormous toque. Ideall Clothing is available at LiveStock Toronto and at www.ideallclothing.com.

Jay-Z ‘Answer The Call Concert’ Live At Madison Square Garden

jay-z-911-475x390

Jay-Z shut down MSG in NYC last night.. I was playing a party so missed watching the concert live.. Fuse aired Jay-Z’s “Answer the Call” benefit concert live on 9/11 & he definitely pulled out all the stops, giving fans much more than their money’s worth. Guest appearances included Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, John Mayer, Kid Cudi, and more..  helped Hov make it a night to remember.

Watch the monumental show in its entirety below, courtesy of Nahright. Also, big shouts to my dude Neil Armstrong for holding it down as Jay-Z’s official tour DJ!

A Few Of My Favourite Classics..

Just some classics… Enjoy! Will post Asia pics & video soon.

Hong Kong & Shanghai This Weekend!

So.. I’m making a quick mission to Asia for the weekend.. Gonna be a long few days ahead, but should be fun & I’m excited to check out the clubs in Hong Kong & Shanghai..! I fly out Thurs morning from Toronto & get to Hong Kong Friday evening.  A few hours downtime, and then I’m at M1NT Nightclub in Hong Kong Friday Night.  Unfortunately, I won’t really have time to take in Hong Kong & actually see the city.  Saturday afternoon, I fly from Hong Kong to Shanghai – same drill.. chill out for a few hours & then rock M1NT Nightclub in Shanghai on Saturday Night! Sunday afternoon I fly back to Toronto, and land back at YYZ around Midnight Sunday Night.. Going to take lots of pics & video, time to try out this Flip Cam and see if they are really worth the hype.. Will keep you guys posted! Peace!

Jay-Z Rhapsody Commercial

Hov recreates every album cover in one take.. Haven’t seen a music-related commercial as clever as this in a while – had to post it!

Rhapsody press release:

Jay-Z has teamed up with Rhapsody® and MTV to promote the highly-anticipated release of his new album, “The Blueprint 3.” As part of the partnership, the entire album will be available for fans to listen to for free on Rhapsody.com and from MTV’s “The Leak”, almost two weeks prior to its official release. In addition, Rhapsody will also make the new album available for purchase beginning September 8, three days ahead of the street release, and will include two exclusive bonus tracks.

Leading this partnership, three new Rhapsody TV spots will debut starting on September 1 across MTV Networks. In addition to two 30-second ads, Rhapsody will premiere a 60-second version of the ad in the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13.

The Jay-Z spots are the latest installment of Rhapsody’s ongoing “Fans Get It” campaign. Rhapsody’s “Fans Get It” campaign kicked off earlier this year with a massive promotion around Green Day’s hugely successful release “21st Century Breakdown,” followed with more promotions with top artists in genres from pop to country. The “Fans Get It” campaign has utilized a similar treatment through all the ads, which celebrate the culture and iconography of artists’ careers, enabling them direct involvement in the creative development of the spot. These high-profile promotions both serve as a great vehicle to further connect music fans with the artists they love.

Drake x Trey Songz – Successful [Video]

One of my personal favourite cuts off the ‘So Far Gone’ project.. Very happy to see this being pushed as a single, and the video came out real clean too.
