West Coast Canada Tour Pt. 3 Recap!

Here is a long overdue re-cap of the west coast tour pt. 3 I went on a couple of weeks ago with my MC, Sir Lancelot.  We played 8 days straight (Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue) across Whistler, Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, & Niagra.  Here is a quick rundown of how it went down!

Tues Morning (Feb 24th)
Flew out of Toronto at 6am, and the idiot girl beside me on the plane broke my favourite pair of shades.. Great start.  We got to Vancouver early Tuesday Morning..  Chilled out with DJ Tanner for the day & drove up to Whistler later that night to rock Savage Beagle w/ Faction Soundcrew.  Whistler was good, as per usual, and I played sets back and forth with Tanner & DJ Arems.  The vibes were big (it was Lancelot`s birthday the night before, so he decided to continue celebrating), it seems like everyone in that little mountain town is always out to just get drunk and have a good time.  Right after, we drove back down the mountain to Vancouver, making sure to make a pit stop at 7/11 on the drive back.  As far as the last pic in this set, I found these products on top of DJ Arems fridge – what the..!

What THE?! This is what was on top of DJ Arems' fridge!

Wed Afternoon (Feb 25th)
Wednesday Morning, we took a bus, which then drove onto a boat, which then sailed to the island of Victoria.  Never before, have I been on a greyhound, which then proceeds to drive straight onto a boat, park, ride 1.5 hours across the water, get back on the bus, and drive off the boat..  Definitely weird, but also an interesting experience.. The boat itself was more like a 5-level cruise liner, complete with arcades, buffets, business lounges, and yes – used needle deposit boxes in the washroom :S The heroin problem is bad out there I guess.. After making it into Victoria, we checked in to the hotel, and played Felicita’s at The University of Victoria.

Asleep with the berry in my hands again.. busride, pre ferry ride to Victoria
one crazy boat
Only in vancouver can you dispense your dirty needles on public transit

Thurs (Feb 26th)

We took the ferry ship back to Vancouver, cabbed it to the hotel downtown, checked in, went by the homie Hedspin’s crib where we got to preview some new remixes from Team Canada’s DJ Grandtheft. After kicking it with them for a bit, we went to Hunt.FM studio’s where I laid down another show/interview – which should be up in the podcast section any day now.  Straight from the studio it was back to the hotel to shower, get ready, and then walk down Granville St. to Tonic Nightclub where we played Thursday Night!

Headed back to Van..
Decent food on the boat, expensive as hell though

Fri (Feb 27th)

I woke up earlier in the day and dealt with a bunch of emails/business at the hotel, & then just worked on music for the rest of the evening till we ended up making our way to dinner at The Cactus Club Cafe (my homeboy Matty’s god brother is the head chef – he hooked it up large!)  The food, atmosphere, and service were all top-notch.. I can’t wait for this place to come to Toronto! After dinner, it was back to the hotel to get ready and head down to SHINE Nightclub, which we smashed on Friday Night..! After the club it was off to Korean Food with some promoters/friends, and then finally back to hotel at 5am.

Great food..

Saturday (Feb 28th)
This was our last day in Vancouver.. We hit up all the stores/boutiques in the city: Dipt, Complex, A-Life, Goodfoot, Stussy, Livestock, etc. Big shouts to all of our sponsors for taking care of as usual! After doing some shopping we linked with the homies Flipout & Jayswing for dinner at GUU (very good Japanese spot in Gastown) which, to my surprise ended up being a LOT of GREAT food.. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel, got ready, hit 94.5 The Beat FM radio show with Jay & Flipout where we met up with GMAN, and then headed to Gossip Nightclub (Big Up Saturdays) to play from 12-2am. After that, we went by Stone Temple to meet up with Craig from Frontline & DJ Scene 1 to say whatup, before heading back to the hotel and calling it a night.

Sun (March 1)
Sun morning had to wake up early, pack up the mess of a room that was clothes, computers, cables, wires, etc. scattered all over the place, check out and make it to the airport in time to catch our 1pm flight to Calgary, where we were playing that night. Big shouts to our cab driver on the way to the airport, because if it wasn’t for his driving, we would never have made it to the airport in time..  We landed in Calgary around 3pm, got together with some old friends, and caught up over dinner after having checked in to, yes, yet another hotel.  After dinner, it was off to Opus nightclub where we played Sunday Night. Ps. explain how we get to Milestones, and the damn sign in the door says `Closed For Spring Cleaning – Come Back In 2 Months` what the hell..

Mon (March 2)
Tour’s a wrap. Back to Toronto.. Rockwood Monday Night.. Yes, no night’s off.. On the flight I woke up to apple juice spilling all over my thigh/ass/leg which made for a really shitty plane ride back to Toronto.. As soon as we landed and grabbed our bags, we headed down to Rockwood Nightclub for Toronto`s local industry night which was packed – lot of new and old faces in the spot! I played a couple sets but in all honesty, was tired as helllll by this point!

Tues (March 3)
It’s now Tuesday, again..? Really? Geez. The whole week flew by.. We are in Niagra Falls every Tuesday for a New Residency @ Dragonfly Nightclub. Checked into another hotel, got ready, handled the club from 10-3, and finally got some SLEEEEEEEP.

We put in work.

MTV with Famous, Tona, Kim Davis, D-10 & more

This past Tuesday, February 10th, 2009, Famous performed live on MTV.. Here is some footage & pics of the rehearsals.  Shouts to Tona, Kim Davis, D-10, and the entire live band who held it down!  To all those wondering why I am wearing sunglasses indoors?  You try not sleeping for 3 days straight and having lights in your face – no thanks.

Back from another successful Montreal mission

Whatup everyone!

Another Montreal mission successfully completed.. Had to spin a party in Waterloo Friday night, finished that at 4am, drove back to Toronto, and left for Montreal at 6am. Lack of sleep is probably why I get sick.. Either way, made it to Montreal by noon on Saturday afternoon, checked into the Hyatt, let my boy persuade me into eating Baton Rouge (that’s two shitty meals there in a row.. if I wasn’t so sleep deprived I would NOT have eaten there). Finally caught up on some sleep and then hit Jano’s..! Now.. if you do not know about Jano’s and a) claim to be from Montreal or b) claim to be a connoisseur of fine foods, you my friend, are a liar! Let me school you real quick.. Jano’s is the most scrumptious, delicious, delectable Portugese food ever.. I have not yet been to Portugal (promoters, get at me) but for some reason, I feel like it is even better than the food over there.

Chicken and lamb combo with the hot sauce is what’s up. It is located right beside the world famous Schwartz’ on St-Laurent street. We went out to eat with the Promotions Manager of the Club I was DJ’ing Saturday Night (Orchid Nightclub), and neither him or his girl had ever been there..!! Needless to say, they are now fans for life, and have agreed to buy me Jano’s chicken each time I am in the city.

Enough about food. I was suffering from a bad flu and cold all weekend and tried to catch some sleep after dinner before leaving for the club and DJing. Didn’t work out.. Ended up taking a bottle of COLD FX & a box of kleenex with me to the club.. Sucks, but it was still a good night.

My partner in crime, Sir Lancelot & I did our thing alongside my homeboy Payce & Chops and Mahesh. As usual, we repped the dot; I decided to break Drake’s “Ransom” in the club and let Montreal get familiar with a 22 year old Jewish Kid who is going to make an impact on the rap game real soon.

Big thanks to everyone in Montreal for the hospitality as per usual – Payce, Emerson, Jason, Vic, and everyone who always comes through to show love.

We’ll be back there in November most likely..! Here is some randomness from the trip, shouts to REDEF for the pics

Sleep is important. Get it when you can!

Universal Urban threw a private listening party for Kardi’s new LP NOT FOR SALE dropping September 9, 2008! The food was wicked as well.. you know I took pics of it lol. I saw them pour beer on the jerk wings.. Added some damn good flavour though!

L.A. Continued.. Air Conditioners & Really Good Pizza!

Man.. It is HOT as HELL out in LA.. Actually, it’s so hot, that we had to trek it to Home Depot and buy the biggest Air Conditioner they had.. ! Hahaha.. Shouts to Mannie & Utah! Link up when you guys are in Toronto!

Drove around the city for a while, taking in the weather and the sites, and then headed to a dope little Pizza spot called Village Pizzeria. Highly recommended…

L.A. L.A.. Big City Of Dreams..

Got to LAX Friday afternoon, and linked with THE dude out on the west coast, DJ Mike Danger! Hit IN & OUT Burger (definitely one of the best burgers I’ve ever had), went by Triumvir & Orisue’s warehouses, and then was off to DJ at one of the nicest clubs in Hollywood – Cabana Club!

Vancouver Continued.. Banana Leaf Cuisine!

Haven’t had access to reliable internet in a while, so I’m about to catch up on a lot of posts..! While in Vancouver last week, I got schooled onto some good eating.. If you know me, you know I’m a big fan of food in general! This was my first time eating Malaysian Food, and it was damn tasty.. !

Myself, DJ Arems from The Faction Soundcrew, 4Korners, DJ Smooth, and Flipout all met up at this spot, and ordered a whole heap of food.. Green beans, shrimp, prawns, coconut rice, kung-pow chicken, chicken currys, beef & chicken kebob skewers.. desert.. and more..

Those dudes in Vancouver frequent the spot a couple times a week (understandably so), kind of how me and the crew goto Garden in Toronto on the regular.

Anyways, if you are in Vancouver and want good food.. Don’t forget I told you about Banana Leaf!!!

In Vancouver Right Now + My 23′rd Birthday In Vegas

Peace everyone, I made it into Vancouver safely on Sunday (yesterday) after a delayed flight and 2.5 hour wait in Winnipeg. I’ve got to commend West Jet; they had TV’s in every headrest with over 20 channels, so browsing between family guy & the olympics while falling in and out of sleep was not bad at all.. Plus the air hostess sang the entire plane a song while landing with the line “marry me, and fly for free” in it which had everyone laughing and in a good mood while landing. Went through some amazing clouds, but left my camera in the overhead compartment so didn’t get any pics or video.

Vancouver’s really laid back and literally a breath of fresh air from Toronto. So far, I’ve eaten sushi for dinner, and indian food for breakfast. Big shouts to Faction Soundcrew & J Parsons for the hospitality thus far. Went to Faction’s new Sunday Night @ Tonic Nightclub last night – was a wicked vibe. I have video which I’ll post soon. It’s already Monday..! Tonight I’m playing a guest set on my man DJ Tropic’s radio show from 130am-230am on 102.7 FM CFRO, you can listen online live via www.coopradio.org

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=763405272&ref=ts#/event.php?eid=27279807820&ref=mf

for more details.

Oh ya. In one week I turn 23. If you are in Vegas for The Magic Convention, come through.
It’s @ The Moon Nightclub inside The Palms Hotel & Casino. So here’s my personal invite to the world.

EPMD x Stussy x Goodfoot x Ransom x Myself x Neil Armstrong x Complex
Should be dope!

Will touch base soon.
Peace…!

In Winnipeg Right Now

Last night I was at rockwood with DJ Tilt & Sir Lancelot.  Straight after playing there, I had to pack and catch a 7am flight to Winnipeg to kick off this West Coast Tour.  There was a huuuuuggeee line to check your baggage in (at least 45 minute wait), but the homie Ed from Inqmnd (www.inqmnd.ca) hooked up the line by pass..!!! Line by pass at an airport? Wicked way to start things off… Thanks my dude, see you in Vegas!

So.. Winnipeg… Alright, not trying to put this place down, but realistically, what do you do during the day out here? Lancelot & I walked around aimlessly and found nothing, but a drunk guy trying to punch a hole in a phone booth, a few cool paintings, and a very small amount of random people walking down the street.

Last night we tore down Vibe Nightclub (shouts to The Coach, Fin-S & Paxton), and tonight we will do the same on a more commercial level.

If you have to come to Winnipeg and wanna do something, go to a place called The Forks. For some good eats, check out The Old Spaghetti Factory (dope wings, clam chowder, and reasonable prices).

Lance leaves at 6am, and I’m off to Vancouver at 5pm.

Peace!
