R.I.P. Sy Sylver

On Friday, April 13 we lost a fellow teammate at The 194 Group. Our guitarist, the legendary Sy Sylver, passed on and left us for a better place.. Sy was a unique individual.. Not only was he an incredible talent, but more importantly he was a wonderful human being. A rockstar in his own right, Sy connected with audiences of all backgrounds and musical spectrums from around the world. His passion and love for music shined through his electrifying and energetic performances. Sy’s gift was unique and he was an originator in the field of Electronic Dance Music, adding an element that people had never witnessed before. His gift found him performing across the globe, from Dubai to Ibiza, sharing the stage with the likes of Tiesto, DJ AM, Kaskade, and Paul Oakenfold. In an industry full of fake personalities and inflated egos, Sy Sylver was one of the most genuine, laid back, and humble people I have ever met.. Simon Benlolo aka Sy Sylver, you were a pleasure to work alongside and you will be missed dearly my friend..

Back to STFX University..

I’m currently waiting to board this Porter airlines flight with my good friend and partner in crime, Sir Lancelot. We are flying back to Canada’s East Coast to play ‘the final party of the year‘ for the students at STFX University. The first time we played there (last year), I was wondering to myself where we were going (not to sound ignorant), as I hadn’t the slightest clue.. After landing in Halifax, one of the school’s reps drove 2 1/2 hours to come pick us up, and we were then on our way to the town of Antigonish, where STFX campus is located. One of my favourite parts about DJ’ing is being able travel and learn about new places.. Most of the time, whatever expectations I have of a city or venue are thrown out of the window and this is exactly what happened in the town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. I don’t know what was up with these kids but this was definately one of the wildest campuses we’ve ever played in Canada.. Hats off to the students at St. Francis Xavier University (your school sounds like it is a secret institution for X-men by the way), they party their asses off.. Looking forward to coming back and rocking with you in a few hours.. I still have to post the video, but in the mean time here are the pics / audio of what happened last time we were there.

DJ JAYCEEOH Presents: SUPER 7 VOLUME 5

“DJ JAYCEEOH Presents: SUPER 7 VOLUME 5”
Featuring Z-TRIP, JAZZY JEFF, REVOLUTION, MICK BOOGIE, GASLAMP KILLER, VAJRA

Five years ago JayCeeOh had the vision to create a mix series that would feature a bunch of his  favorite DJs and peers on one mix. After 4 volumes, 28 World Class DJs, and 100,000+ downloads, the “Super 7” Series has become critically acclaimed with fans, and an institution among the DJ Community. In a climate where nearly every person claims to be a “DJ”, JayCeeOh felt the need to shine light on real DJs. ”Super 7” is one of a kind mix and one of the last standing series to focus solely the art of DJing and creating mixtape masterpieces. Using turntables as their main instrument, each DJ creates a ten minute timeless collage of music in mixtape format. With no musical boundaries the end result is an eargasm for aficionados, a music lesson for new listeners, and a how-to model for up and coming DJs. “Super 7 Volume 5” boasts one of the heaviest DJ line-ups put together in mixtape history. Combining certified DJ legends with next generation superstars, JayCeeOh has pulled out all the stops for Volume 5. Look forward to mixes from  Z-TRIP, JAZZY JEFF, DJ REVOLUTION, GASLAMP KILLER, VAJRA, MICK BOOGIE and JAYCEEOH on the newest installment of “Super 7”.
