Europe Tour Recap Part 4 – London [Pics]

Immediately after playing Kaulfeuten in Zurich, it was back to the airport to head to London England. After checking into my hotel (located in the Bloomsbury district), I was able to find an authentic barbershop and spend some time roaming the area. The following two nights (Thurs/Fri) I was playing at two of London’s best clubs – Chinawhite on Thursday night and the Playboy Club on Friday Night. It was great to finally connect with my people DJ Sam Young and DJ Smoov, and catch up in person over some delicious Nando’s Chicken. Chinawhite on Thursday was an amazing night.. Management had said the club was slower than usual because of the riots going on at the time, but it did not effect the vibe of the night at all. Great crowd and great atmosphere.. The floor was packed until the very end of the night and I had a great time playing a mix of house, hip hop, and classics! Thank you to James & Sam at Chinawhite for having me and I look forward to being back soon.. The next night was the final night of my 10 day European tour inside London’s brand new Playboy Club. Having played The Playboy Mansion a few years ago, I was curious as to how this would measure up. The Playboy Club is an ultra-exclusive members nightclub, lounge, and casino in one located in the posh Mayfair district of the city. Again, the night was slower than usual because of the aforementioned riots going on at the time, but it did not stop people from dancing, letting loose, and having fun!

Europe Tour Recap Part 1 – Belgium [Pics]

The first stop of August’s 10-day European Tour was Brussels, Belgium. This was my 2nd time in Belgium (the last time I was there was in November 2010) and it was just as I had remembered it: laid back, beautiful, good people, amazing architecture, good food, and a good time. Big shouts out to my man DJ Psar and the entire MP Fam for all of the hospitality! I played 2 great nights in Brussels and Inglemunster Belgium before flying to Norway on Saturday morning..

Toronto Raptors Red Party @ Muzik [Jan, 2011]

On Monday, January 10, 2011, I held down the musical duties at the 5th Annual ‘Toronto Raptors Red Party’. The event took place at Muzik in Toronto and was a great experience overall. It was cool to have The Raptors + all of the corporate big wigs from companies that work with and support MLSE together in one room. Read an article on BizBash here, and a write-up on NBA.com here. I’m very proud and excited to announce that one of my good friends – Yale fox, has been selected as 1 of 200 presenters from around the world at this year’s coveted TED speaker series.

“It’s with much honor to announce today that I’ve fulfilled one of my life goals, and have been selected from thousands of applicants for a 2011 TED Fellowship. If you don’t know what TED is, it’s time to find out. TED is a non-profit organization based on forward thinking individuals and ideas that are worth spreading. Past speakers include Sir Richard Branson, Al Gore and Bill Gates to name a few. I’ll be presenting some of my research at this year’s conference.

Here’s a link to the official press release – they actually mentioned me specifically which is pretty awesome. You can find more information on their site here. For those of you that are wondering, tickets for this conference are around $4000 and they sell out a year in advance. Here’s a list of the other Fellows that I’ll be speaking with:

Wristpect x
Blackberry x Maritz Canada Deliver ‘Torch’

Mobile Industry Awards 2010 ‘Best Manufacturer of the Year’, Research In Motion and their award winning BlackBerry brand teamed up with the 2010 Toronto DJ of the year Wristpect, to launch the brand new and highly anticipated Blackberry Torch device in Canada.  Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver & Montreal held the only North American events of their sort.

Alongside Maritz Canada, Blackberry recently held national launch events for their Torch device, entitled the ‘Influencer’ and the ‘Rep’.

The invite-only ‘Influencer’ event attracted over 200 high profile Blackberry users to experience the new Torch device. The Rep event was an extremely successful gathering of 400 enthusiastic sales associates who received Torch devices at each of their respective locations. The soundtrack for these events across the country was provided by DJ Wristpect, who also creatively used the Torch devices to deliver his performance.

“It is always an honour to work with such a powerful and prominent brand” said Wristpect. “As a heavy user & advocate of Blackberry devices for over 6 years now, I feel as though this has been a long time coming. I’ve converted hundreds of friends and colleagues into certified Blackberry addicts over the last several years.. I look forward to further developing a professional relationship with both Blackberry & Maritz, and using the new Torch device in my day to day business!”

Teaming up with major brands is not anything new for this young DJ/Entrepreneur; Wristpect has worked alongside brands such as Google, MTV and Hennessy to Sony, Redbull and Playboy.

Most recently, Wristpect was awarded ‘Toronto DJ of the Year’ at the 2010 Stylus DJ Awards. The year before, he was nominated Canada’s #1 Club DJ, joined Clinton Spark’s ‘Smash Squad DJ’ crew, and played club dates across New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Costa Rica, and more.

The Blackberry Torch is currently available through select carriers worldwide. Please contact your wireless provider formore information.

I suck terribly at acceptance speeches and never remember to say what I want or thank the people I want to, so here goes..
