Halloween 2010 Recap..

This year’s Halloween Weekend was pretty crazy.. On Friday Oct 30 we were at Toronto’s biggest Halloween costume party inside Liberty Grand with over 5000 people in attendance.. The next day (Saturday, October 30) we flew to PEI for the first time (Eastern Canada) to play The Wave at University of PEI, along with our drummer – JB Allen. This party was a smash… Thus brings us to Halloween night, Sunday Oct 31. We took an evening flight back to Toronto which got me back just in time to play a set at TIME Nightclub, alongside my dude DJ Tilt. Another Halloween weekend, another series of good parties.. Videos & pics from all 3 nights below.

Fresh air, kind people (cabs actually stop and just let you cross the street?), good food, and good vibes.. Shoutout to Nu-Rock and Dr. Drake who are also playing. Come through if you are in the area!

Wristpect x
Blackberry x Maritz Canada Deliver ‘Torch’

Mobile Industry Awards 2010 ‘Best Manufacturer of the Year’, Research In Motion and their award winning BlackBerry brand teamed up with the 2010 Toronto DJ of the year Wristpect, to launch the brand new and highly anticipated Blackberry Torch device in Canada.  Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver & Montreal held the only North American events of their sort.

Alongside Maritz Canada, Blackberry recently held national launch events for their Torch device, entitled the ‘Influencer’ and the ‘Rep’.

The invite-only ‘Influencer’ event attracted over 200 high profile Blackberry users to experience the new Torch device. The Rep event was an extremely successful gathering of 400 enthusiastic sales associates who received Torch devices at each of their respective locations. The soundtrack for these events across the country was provided by DJ Wristpect, who also creatively used the Torch devices to deliver his performance.

“It is always an honour to work with such a powerful and prominent brand” said Wristpect. “As a heavy user & advocate of Blackberry devices for over 6 years now, I feel as though this has been a long time coming. I’ve converted hundreds of friends and colleagues into certified Blackberry addicts over the last several years.. I look forward to further developing a professional relationship with both Blackberry & Maritz, and using the new Torch device in my day to day business!”

Teaming up with major brands is not anything new for this young DJ/Entrepreneur; Wristpect has worked alongside brands such as Google, MTV and Hennessy to Sony, Redbull and Playboy.

Most recently, Wristpect was awarded ‘Toronto DJ of the Year’ at the 2010 Stylus DJ Awards. The year before, he was nominated Canada’s #1 Club DJ, joined Clinton Spark’s ‘Smash Squad DJ’ crew, and played club dates across New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Costa Rica, and more.

The Blackberry Torch is currently available through select carriers worldwide. Please contact your wireless provider formore information.

Via Under30Ceo

Recently Under30CEO ran a poll to find out what the top cities for young entrepreneurs were in the United States. Voters were asked to think about resources, schools, events, climate, and the social scene that a young entrepreneur looks for. The results are in and below we have put together the top 10 cities for young entrepreneurs in 2010.

1. New York

This year the #1 city for young entrepreneurs is New York City. New York is the largest city in the United States which gives it just about anything a business or young person would want. There is a major social scene in the city where it reigns with the most bars in the country and also countless festivals, meet-ups and social activities.

The city is one of the leading business centers in the world where things like The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq are housed. In recent years the city has become a thriving place for start-ups and young entrepreneurs. The city is often referred to as Silicon Alley and continues to push forward with its start-up community.

Huffington Post: Toronto Rises as the New Capital of Cool

toronto_night_skyline

Published in Huffington Post Via 1loveTO

If your idea of Canada is dominated by maple syrup, hockey, flannel shirts or the G-20 Summit, it’s time to discover Toronto as the new “Capital of Cool.”

Toronto boasts a population of five million people, 200 ethnic groups and 130 languages. Each year the city absorbs approximately 50,000 immigrants, making it Canada’s largest city and surprisingly one of the most culturally diverse communities in North America.

Although the Toronto skyline is dotted with a dizzying array of towering glass residential developments, it is the renewal of the once dodgy but now trendy West Queen, Ossington and King West neighborhoods that have visitors buzzing about the galleries, custom clothing boutiques, restaurants and specialty stores. As a reference consider these districts to be Toronto’s Brooklyn.

Park Slope

parkslope100412_lede

Via NY Mag.

No neighborhood is the butt of more stroller jokes or the recipient of more anti-gentrification scorn. But any way you slice it, Park Slope is the very definition of a well-rounded neighborhood. It falls just slightly below average in two: affordability (the average two-bedroom rental is $2,275) and diversity. In all other areas, it’s somewhere between above grade and superlative: It’s blessed with excellent public schools, low crime, vast stretches of green space, scores of restaurants and bars, a diverse retail sector, and a population of more artists and creatives than even its reputation for comfortable bohemianism might suggest (more, in fact, than younger, trendier Williamsburg). It might not be everyone’s idea of a perfect neighborhood, but statistically speaking (by a hair), there’s nowhere better.
