A piece by Bryan Espiritu.
Rest in Peace to all the Fallen Soldiers..
Man.. I don’t even know what to say right now.. I guess this is just another reminder from above, that life is very, very short. There is no need to hold grudges against each other, or hate on one another, like so many people do - day in, and day out. There is no point. We are all here for a reason.. Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM inspired & motivated me, and most likely thousands of other DJs. He was an innovator and a trend setter who pushed boundaries and was one of the first to really break ‘the dj’ into the same limelight as ‘the artist’. All of that aside, he was simply a dope technical & conceptual DJ as well..
While news reports are saying he died of drug-related causes [hard to believe, as he said he never drank anything, and had no alcohol on his rider], I just hope that some of his younger fans take this in stride as a learning lesson.. Drugs are no joke; they will consume your life and are simply not worth it.
Although I did not know him personally, I had the pleasure of playing a party with him only a few months back in February [ see: Opening For DJ AM ] & he was one of the coolest, level-headed, and most humble DJs that I have had the chance to play alongside. Thanks for motivating me.. Rest In Peace.

What’s up everyone?
I know, I haven’t been updating nearly as much as I’d like to.. What can I say other than ‘I’ve been busy & haven’t found the time’.
April has been a pretty crazy month so far, but it’s not over just yet..! I’ve been holding down Dragonfly Tuesdays at Niagara’s Fallsview resort & casino (http://www.dragonflynightclub.com), teaching classes Wednesdays at Scratchlab (http://www.scratchlab.ca), playing Saturday’s at D’luxe Lounge (http://www.theguvernment.com), getting out of town to play parties on Fridays, Elevate 09 at The CN Tower (http://www.elevate09.ca), throwing our Guys & Dolls event last Friday at Wetbar, etc.
I leave for LA tomorrow morning until Monday. I’ll be at Cabana Club on Friday (http://www.cabanaclubhollywood.com), celebrating the birthday of my homeboy Mike Danger & rocking 4 turntables with him, and Ivar (http://www.ivarhollywood.com) on Saturday! Big shouts to one of my clothing sponsors Orisue (http://www.orisue.com) for jumping on the night - we’ll have giveaways from them..
Damn, that was a long sentence. Before I get into anything, let me just put this out there… Imagine having a blackberry with no letter ‘A’ key. As in, the letter ‘A’ button, which conveniently is the ‘*’ button as well, ceases to function. I tend to break these things fairly quickly.
The last four days have been a mess; not having an ‘a’ key when on the road all day is like having a mouth that works, and a brain telling it what to say, but not being able to physically say it. Beyond frustrating.. The letter ‘A’ also happens to be one of two most commonly used letters when typing!
Thankfully, Rogers will be providing the new phone, and I should have a new PIN by tomorrow. So.. just call me if you need me. To all those whom I’ve sent texts, emails, and BBM’s that sound like you are communicating with a 3 yr old, my apologies!
‘Nuff talking. Getting in to things..

This one’s fairly self explanatory.. If you are familiar with the last two ‘Bridging The Gap’ series (see: New York & Chicago) of mixed compilations, then you know what to expect. Good looking out to everyone who came through on this project, from both Toronto & North Carolina. Production & emcees are from either of the two cities, and the project is hosted by Little Brother over a year ago when they were in Toronto, promoting their Getback LP. For various reasons (other mixtapes, parties, tours, my own laziness, etc) I never ended up getting back to this until I found out that they were coming back to TO for another tour.. Time flies. I’m happy its out, although wish I got to spend more time on it.. but such is life. Shouts to Big Dho aka MR DOITALL BITCH!
Again, DOWNLOAD IT HERE temporarily, until I put it into the Mixtapes archive.

LITTLE BROTHER @ MOD CLUB OCT 19 ‘OPENING SET’ - DJ WRISTPECT & SIR LANCELOT
This came to me by surprise.. I decided to log in to myspace (yeah, remember that?) and found myself sorting through a shitload of unread msgs. We had no idea this shit was being recorded. Lance didn’t even know he was going to mic for me.. In fact, about 3 minutes before I told him I needed help handing out mixtapes, he was side stage eating Burger King lol.. We were just having fun.. another 50 minutes of audio! THURSDAY - VAN GOGH’S 2nd FLOOR (GUELPH)
Every Thursday Night it’s all about Entourage Thursdays in Guelph.. I went to Universtiy in this city, and people like to party.. The venue is a funky 3 story building, with a newly renovated 3rd floor. If you like live music, 1st floor is the spot to be. 2nd Floor/3rd floor each has its own vibe too. $5 Cover gets you into all 3 floors, and drinks are $2.50 before midnight.. 1 band, 4 DJ’s, 3 floors.. $5.
This week is the 3rd edition of the Soca Cooldown fete.. should be madness as usual.
Next week is the return of DJ Mike Danger from LA.. Arrive Early!!
FRIDAY - I’ll be back at The Vault in Waterloo. This will be the 3rd time we’ve played there. Myself, Lancelot & DJ Tilt. If you are in Waterloo or surrounding areas and need guestlist, msg info@sirlancelotonline.co
SATURDAY..
Saturday will be another long day..!
So check it out. I basically got an email from a lady at a marketing firm in New York, saying that Sony Ericson is a title sponsor on Usher’s tour and will be hosting a VIP room which she needs a dj for and would love to have me. Not much more information other than only one other city on the tour will be hosting this vip room/event for execs, and Toronto is the only city on the tour with a DJ for it.. Looking forward to playing it and networking! I actually enjoy playing the branded entertainment/lifestyle/music events, so hopefully this leads to some more!
Oh yeah! Shouts to the big homie, STARTING FROM SCRATCH, who is currently on tour with Usher shutting shit down city to city!
Here are Usher’s “One Night Stand: Ladies Only” tour dates:
Nov. 2: Atlantic City, N.J. (Borgata)
Nov. 3: New York (Hammerstein Ballroom)
Nov. 4: Washington, D.C. (Warner Theatre)
Nov. 5: Philadelphia (Electric Factory)
Nov. 7: Mashantucket, Conn. (MGM Grand)
Nov. 8: Toronto (Kool Haus)
Nov. 10: Atlanta (Tabernacle)
Nov. 12: Detroit (Fillmore)
Nov. 13: Chicago (House Of Blues)
Nov. 18: San Francisco (Warfield Theatre)
Nov. 19-20: Los Angeles (Club Nokia LA Live)
Nov. 21: Las Vegas (the Pearl)
Nov. 24: Houston (House of Blues)
Nov. 25: Dallas (House of Blues)
Straight after DJ’ing that, I am off to start a new Saturday Night Residency..
Mannn… ! We were smashing D’Luxe Lounge every Saturday. It was a dope party, plain and simple! The room was as cool as a 300 person space gets, it was very open concept, and we got comfy. We brought out a lot of our peoples, booths and bottles everywhere, and things were just going well..
Apparently, Guvernment thought it was going too well, and are moving us into The Drink from D’Luxe Lounge on Saturday Nights. Traditionally a House Music room, they want to flip it into a bigger Mashup party, where everything is played.. It is going to be live to air on z103.5 from 11-12am as well.
It’s going to be weird getting used to this new room/night so quickly, but I kinda have to because between all the running around today (Thursday), Friday, Saturday, it’s going to creep up before I know it.
33.3 % CANADIAN CONTENT needs to play on the live to air.. So for all my artists.. I would start thinking of cutting some dubs on big commercial tunes.. You know I support Canadian artists all day anyway, I don’t mind doing it on a commercial radio station reaching thousands of people primetime on a Saturday Night.
Anytime you want to pass through, link me for VIP.
This is also the ‘VIP Room’ so when artists/celebs get booked (ie. Kim Kardashian two weeks ago), they will be partying in this room. It is a good look overall, I just open the vibes are just as nice as they were in D’Luxe.
This week, Nov 8th things kick off with an Ed Hardy Swimwear Photoshoot, or something to that extent!

HELLO DRINK..
I will let you know how it goes..!
Yessir..
RG hit me up today asking if I’m down to fill in the online radio show he does with Starting from Scratch on Monday nights 11pm-2am.. Musically.. ANYTHING goes.. Should be fun!
Tune in via GLOBE-RADIO !
