Manifesto 2011 Recap [Video]

This past September, 2011 Toronto celebrated the 5th anniversary of THE MANIFESTO. This is one of the most beautiful festivals to take place in the city; a true gathering of art, music, film, food, and culture.

This footage is from the ‘Live At The Square’ event on Sunday, Sept 25 at Dundas Square which I DJ’d.

Performers included 9th Wonder & Phonte, Zaki Ibrahim, Raekwon & JD Era, Rich Kidd, Kid Capri and Rakim, Freedom Writers, and many more..

It was definitely a historic evening.. Let me know your thoughts!

Rock The Bells 09 – Toronto [Nas & Mos Def Video]

Hip Hop legends were in the city this past Sunday – Big Boi, Nas, Mos Def, EPMD, Slum Village, MOP, The RZA, Reflection Eternal, KRS One, Pete Rock, Green Lantern, etc. to name a few.. I only got to The Molson Amphitheatre around 7.40 pm [shouts to Cyberkrib, REMG, Guerilla Union] thus missing several acts.  Check ‘Set Times’ for the entire lineup. Common was supposed to be there, but couldn’t make it so Mos Def took his spot, resulting in some classic Black Star material being performed w/ Kweli.  Heard Big Boi killed it too, anyone got video from his set?

Take these clips in..

Mos Def Performs Umi Says to 6000+ outdoors.. Hi-Tek chilling on stage, Pete Rock watching from above while sorting through crates, KRS One side stage singing along.. It was a full moon outside if you look in the background, the vibe was just crazy.

direct-deposit_cover4Tona is one of the nicest emcees in the city.  You shoulda already be familiar with him via the Bridging The Gap Mixatpe series, among many other projects he has put out.  This time around, he teamed up with producer Lyve and they cooked up some heat..
